Projects Overview
Our projects lie at the heart of SIFE AUT, an integral part of the organisation as this is where SIFE AUT makes a difference in the community and what allows us to reach our vision!
Being part of SIFE International we get the chance each year to present our projects to leading business professionals in the New Zealand SIFE Competition. The winning team then goes on to the SIFE World Cup to represent New Zealand.
SIFE sets down guidelines or SIFE World Cup judging_criteria in which all projects must aim to teach. A project may teach all or just a few of these criteria. The judges also look for the most innovative and creative ways in which teams teach these concepts. These are the main concepts:
- Understand how a market based economic system operates?
- Acquire the education and skills training needed to succeed in a dynamic, competitive global economy?
- Learn how to succeed as an entrepreneur and/or improve an existing business?
- Develop the personal financial management skills necessary to achieve financial independence?
- Understand that the long-term success and prosperity of a market economy, businesses and individuals are dependent on ethical business practices?
SIFE also recognises other need for other measurements to judge teams on. These measure how effective the teams were in running their projects. The criteria include:
- How successfully did the team develop and execute a strategy to ensure the long-term sustainability of their team and educational programmes?
SIFE AUT places a large part of its resources and efforts in creating sustainable projects that meet the SIFE World Cup judging criteria. The projects are where we make a difference in the world by understanding gaps in the community. We provide innovative opportunities to help people better themselves and by doing so increase their standard of living.
